Pulmonary Fibrosis: What Is This?

Nancy describes pulmonary fibrosis and explains if this is fatal.

Nancy:
I would explain it that pulmonary fibrosis is a disease of the tissue that takes the oxygen that is delivered in your lungs and takes it into your blood supply.

It’s a thickening of that tissue and therefore all the oxygen you breathe in is still not able to make it into the blood supply.

No, I don’t think of it as that, at this time. I have educated myself enough to realize that you can take care of yourself.

There are a lot of different treatments, not exactly FDA-approved treatments, but self-treatments that you can do to prolong your life, prolong your energy, make things better just for your entire being.

Everybody’s journey is different. I have learned everybody I have talked to that has PF, everybody has a different story to tell. Everybody present it with different symptoms, everybody is on different medication with different treatments available.

And every year more is learned and more is tried because of people that have the disease putting themselves out there for the trials and stuff. So there’s a lot to be learned yet.
