Kathy recalls the changes she made to her diet that helped ease her multiple sclerosis symptoms.

Kathy:
Diet is incredibly important. Once you get your metabolism back up to speed by thyroid hormones, if that’s a deficiency that you have, you need to be very sensitive to what you eat. Most of us with MS are already. I found that actually, it got much easier for me because before I started taking thyroid, I couldn’t digest meat. That is a problem that many of us with MS have, and once we start on the hormone replacement, we make the gastric acids, we make the digestive enzymes, all the infrastructure that our body needs to digest these things, but we need to also be respectful that we have to be getting the proper protein, the proper fats, and the proper carbohydrates in the right ratio.

So, I have put a chapter in the book on what that should look like, what kind of supplements that we need. I mean, by the time we end up with MS, unfortunately, we are pretty depleted of most of the nutrients that are important. So it’s also real important to look at doing nutritional supplementation as well.
