Kangu Mama Welcomes Healthy Baby Boy

Welcoming a new baby into the world can be one of the most life-changing and fulfilling experiences in a woman’s life. Yesterday, we were thrilled to hear that Jesca, a woman in Uganda, gave birth to a health baby boy.

Jesca’s birth was supported by our partner Kangu. Kangu is the world’s first crowdfunding platform for safe pregnancies and childbirths. To date, more than 560 “mamas” have been funded by Kangu and had safe births.

“Jesca gave birth without complications to her baby boy. Jesca breastfeeds her son to ensure he grows well and healthy. She's ensuring her son receives all of his vaccines after delivery. She named her son Ebulu Vincent, a name after the baby's dad,” Kangu said.

Around the world, 800 women and 8,000 newborns die every day due to lack of access to health care services like trained medical professionals and clean facilities, according to the World Health Organization. Kangu is trying to changing this and increase the number of safe pregnancies and births worldwide.
