Sexual Energy

The spirituality of sex has to do with the invisibility of sexual attraction. Huge amounts of money have been spent and earned in trying to pin down the components of something so vast, so subtle, so sublime, so unknowable; it's like trying to break apart the fabric of existence itself. No amount of analyzing pheromones or developing new body types, fashion accessories or clothing will ever come close to the fabulous earth shattering reality of authentic sexual attraction and chemistry when it hits.

Like a meteor crashing to earth, or a rose petal, the inexplicable forces of nature and the delicacy of the balance of the elements are so mysterious, so unknowable, so sublime that it is this feeling and state of reverie we seek out so fervently with all our botox and dieting, liposuction and exercise, hair dye and fancy drinks, dance clubs and low-cut blouses. For, when you want someone; like really, really want someone and they want you back; passionately, it is a sense of being transported; the ultimate state of grace, the "love-drug" we chase like fevered , insatiably ravenous creatures.

The energy of sex has so much to do with perception and so little to do with reality that it is laughable at times to think about how backward we get it. Like a fun house mirror with everything out of proportion, we've forgotten we can get this feeling, this love-drug, this meditation in healthier ways than the addiction-oriented, materially oriented ways that we seek as our breakdown versions of something so intangible replace what we know in our hearts to be true.

We forget to actually feel. I know it sounds corny, but the feeling of the energy of sex flowing from someone else, from ourselves and, when it hits, between ourselves and someone else is unmistakable - you can't actually get it wrong; you know when you feel it; it's as definitive as hot fudge. Yet overwhelmed by the barrage of fashion choices, the pressure to be thin, the pressure to make more money or be a perfect this or that, we put our real senses on hold and lose sight of what can actually make sex so fantastic, so blissful, so intense - the feelings involved.

This is why if you went out and wanted to meet someone you were genuinely attracted to you might as well take the time to tune into your feelings, your gut reactions. I suggest doing this without drinking or altering your consciousness in any way because doing that will make your gut reaction say "YES" no matter what. But really enjoy the feelings you are having as well as the feelings of others and you may find yourself engaged in an awesome conversation or bedroom extravaganza with someone taller, shorter, heavier or thinner, richer or poorer than you ever imagined yourself with. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
