Dr. Connie shares some tips about what you can do to stay healthy when you are planning on traveling abroad.
I'm Dr. Connie Mariano, Chief Clinical Officer with EmpowHER, with what you can do about travel health.
Now, we are talking about those long trips overseas, which can be particularly hazardous when it comes to staying healthy.
The CDC offers several tips for staying healthy while traveling abroad.
First, check the CDC website for any health warnings issued for your destination.
Next, see your doctor at least four to six weeks before your trip, and make sure you are healthy enough for travel, and tell your doctor where you are heading. He or she may recommend immunizations or medications for your trip.
Next, prepare a travel kit with all of your prescriptions plus those "just in case" over the counter drugs, like pepto-bismol and diarrhea prevention.
Hand wipes, mosquito repellent, and sun screen might be advisable, as well.
A little planning and preparation can go a long ways towards making sure you have a healthy trip.
