Dr. Ora Karp Gordon, MD, is the Medical Director of Integrative Medicine for The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Gordon joined the Providence family in July 2014, coming from Cedars Sinai, where she held the positions Director of the GenRISK Adult Genetics Program, Co-Director of the Gilda Radner Hereditary Cancer Detection Program and Director of Genetics for the Wasserman Breast Cancer Prevention Program.
A diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Genetics, Dr. Gordon's primary research interests involve characterization of hereditary cancers and the prevention of breast cancer and genetic disorders of connective tissue. She is involved in numerous clinical trials for cancer prevention.
Dr. Gordon is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Medical Genetics, American Society of Human Genetics and the American Association of Cancer Research. Dr. Gordon has lectured throughout the United States. She has written chapters for multiple textbooks and her research publications have appeared in a wide array of journals from neurosurgical to oncology. She has authored an award winning consumer directed book on navigating and managing breast and ovarian cancer risk.
Dr. Gordon is a summa cum laude graduate of Tulane University and earned her master's and medical degrees from the University of California, Irvine. She completed her internship and residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and her genetics fellowship at UCLA/Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Gordon is passionate about total patient care, especially for Cancer patients, and as such, is thrilled to spearhead the Roy & Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center's commitment to Integrative Medicine. The Center champions innovative new technologies in cancer treatment, as well as holistic therapies to protect against possibly avoidable side effects of cancer treatment, including a full range of support services for cancer patients and their caregivers such as physical therapy, nutritional counseling, psychosocial support, complementary alternative therapies, appearance support and research just to name a few.
