Candida recalls how long she silently dealt with her varicose and spider veins and why she waited to see a specialist.
Candida:
I suppose thinking that that was just getting older and having had children and this is what happens. And then my sister-in-law actually, last summer in Cape Cod, she is older than me. She is 43 and I am 40 and she has great legs and she said, she was telling me she got her veins done about two years previously and said that the whole area had improved as a result of getting the large, two large veins taken out.
So, I was thinking that all winter and it was getting worse and I was finding I’d have to put my legs up the wall. Often at the end of the day, I had a throbbing sensation in my legs, which I thought was just from walking around all day. But, just after that and thinking of the summer and we were planning a holiday, and I thought I really couldn’t put on shorts or bikini or a swimsuit. It was beyond any type of makeup or any cosmetic coverage.
So I thought I will look into it, and I checked out a few dermatologists here who advertised doing sclerotherapy, but then I looked, New York magazine have a piece they do every year on the best doctors and surgeons in the city and they mentioned Dr. Navarro and a few other websites I checked. His reputation seemed absolutely impeccable, and so I made an appointment to come here.
So I wasn’t, there wasn’t really that embarrassment once I had got past that and told my husband, who he said, “Well, fine, if you have to, if you feel you should.” But after seeing Kay, my initial consultation, it made it much more real because they treat it like a proper medical problem, which it was.
