Dr. Gonzalez explains the amount of swelling a woman can expect after a sleeve gastrectomy.

Dr. Gonzalez:
The amount of swelling is moderate. You may have some swelling of the abdomen just from the laparoscopy, from the anesthesia, from the inability to have a bowel movement for the first few days because of the anesthesia and the pain medications, but that will rapidly return to normal, and as you recover and as your body recovers over the first month, your abdomen will return to normal.
