Some personal care products may be hazardous to your health due to many of the chemicals that they contain. Eye makeup can be absorbed by the mucous membranes of your eyes. Hair sprays and other products contain chemicals that can be inhaled and consequently can irritate your lungs.

Lipstick is "eaten". Lotions and any chemicals they contain are absorbed by the skin.

Dr. Joseph Mercola has a question for you. "If I were to tell you that your personal care products could be putting you at risk for hair and skin damage, immunological problems, damage to your eyes, and possibly even cancer, would you pay a little more attention to their ingredients?"

Over 10,000 personal care products were evaluated in 2004. The average adult is exposed to 126 chemicals every day when they use an average of nine products. Many people use even more products than this daily, averaging 15 personal care products per day.
