HI Cee,

Yes, I am on 1200 calcium and 2000 Vitamin D3. The key ingredient the doctor told me was the Vitamin D3 and that any more than 1200 calcium was really a waste of a pill because we can only absorb so much in a day. I take the calcium 600 twice daily. I refuse to take anything else at this point however, there is a new drug going before the FDA for approval soon from Amgen Inc. It would be two injections per year and is suppose to build bone rather than "remodel" it like the existing treatments. Its drug name is Denosumab, but we will see how this comes down the pike. The DEXA scans are not a true measure of bone density in our cases. That is the fallacy of Fosamax. The bone looks like it is there when in fact it is not, but I had one two weeks ago to appease a skeptical doctor and sure enough it came back that I had Osteopenia and not osteoporosis which is obvious with three fractures in five months time! The Fosamax has thrown us into full-blown osteoporosis and nothing less. Vicki
