My mother has suffered low impact femure fracture. She was on fosomax to prevent osteoporosis as she was on glucocorticoids for RA. The disease is now called SSBT. Severly suppressed bone turnover. rPTH (forteo) might help in healing. She has nailing done 2 months ago. I am concerned about her other leg as x Ray shows a similar lesion but not defenitive fracture.
I hope Merck put this disorder on package insert of fosomax. It is being reported for 4 years and is still not included as side effect.
