Going to the ER would have been better than taking a pain killer.
Diagnostic testing and a physical exam done at the time of the symptoms would have given you an answer as to the nature or cause of the pain.
Do you have a history of any type of cardiac problem? Have you recently increased your level of exercise? Have you had a recent injury to your upper body?
I suggest you contact your primary care physician today and follow his or her recommendations.
