I am not yet 40 (still in my mid-30's), and am experiencing some of the brain fog and generally tiredness that he describes. I've noticed that if I exercise first thing in the morning--before doing anything else--that I am more alert, energized, happy and eat well throughout the day. I also go to bed earlier (because I'm also more tired!), which allows me to get up early the following day.

I'm glad to hear that others feel they are "slogging through the fog", and it is a good reminder to watch more what I eat. I love refined carbs, and they do make me feel good immediately, but it's the long-term effects that are difficult to deal with. When I want something sweet, I've been turning to yogurt with granola, or 2% chocolate milk. I know there is quite a bit of sugar in both of those options above, but at least I am getting a combination of protein, carbs and some vitamins (unlike in a pastry or doughnut).

Thanks for the reminders!
