I haven't heard of the cynosure/Neod-Yag. As far as being painful, any responses will be subjective as we all have different reactions to pain but you asked so here goes: I would guess that most lasers feel about the same as they use a concentrated beam of light to cauterize the vessels but that is only my layman's guess. I didn't know what to expect so was pleased that it wasn't an excruciating experience. It felt like a rubber band snap on a much much m-u-c-h smaller scale. After the procedure I felt like I had a fat lip (it does swell and develop a blister) but I wouldn't say it was uncomfortably painful (for me). I felt a tingling sensation afterwards along with a sunburn-like sensation that subsided the next day. I will be curious to see how your procedure goes so I hope you let us know and also to follow up maybe a couple of months later and let us know if you are happy with the results. Hope that helps!
