This is an individual decision based on personal factors within a marriage. To state that a person is selfish or sinful etc. is wrong No one knows except the people in the relationship what went on. Did they have a history together? Did they share children? Did the ill person respect his spouse? Was that person compliant or did he cause undue fear and disrespect by not taking care of himself? No one can change another person so why is it assumed that a spouse must suffer at the expense of her own health?
