I receive allergy shots weekly, and it is normal to have a lump at the site of the injection.
The shooting pains are not common, and I'm wondering if you've spoken with the nurse/doctor who have you the shots? How often do you get these shots, and if you've had this pain for 5 months, is this from one shot 5 months ago, or do you continue to receive the shots?
