Hi, Kayla. Glad to meet you, and welcome to EmpowHer!

It sounds like you and your boyfriend have been pretty responsible about trying to have protected sex even when you decided you didn't like the side effects of the birth control. I want to applaud you for that.

It's very normal to, for no reason, suddenly have a few really irregular periods. Late, early, etc. There are so many things in life that affect our hormones, and our hormones affect our periods. When we're on birth control, we get really used to that convenient 28-day cycle, don't we? But then when we go off the pill, and our periods are all over the place, our bodies don't really keep to that same schedule.

My thought is that since you've never had a broken condom, you're most likely NOT pregnant, just late. Clearly, your hormones are a bit off schedule, since you had a cycle that was 22 days and now it's been 35. That can happen sometimes when we are under a lot of stress (have you been?) or when we are dealing with a lot in our lives (moves, changes, a change in our level of activity, diet, medicine, etc).

If it would help you relieve your worries, you can always take a home pregnancy test to be sure. But with perfect condom use (and "perfect" means you use it 100 percent of the time, and it's always on correctly, with empty space at the top for the ejaculate), failure rate is between 2 to 3 percent. That's pretty low.

Relax a bit if you can, and try not to worry. If a few more days go by and you're still stressed, try an HPT. Please come back and update us, and if there's anything more we can do for you, don't hestitate to ask.
