HI, My daughter 19, has been suffering from Vestibulodynia for 3 months now, although she realized something has always been wrong growing up. She was never really able to wear tights or tight jeans because of pained discomfort. It was until this summer we finally went to a GYN at UCLA and she was diagnosed with provoked VVD. Her doctor is knowledgeable in the field and prescribed a lidocaine/Gabapentin cream. We think she had a reaction to the base it was in and the pain go worse. She started her on oral gabapentin and it is taking now but not sure it is working. Drowsiness is a problem. The doctor also prescribed physical therapy and CBT- cognitive behavioral therapy too. They are big proponents of the success of CBT and changing how your brain processes pain. Has anyone tried acupuncture? We are seeing that gyn specialist in Maryland in February and hope we get better treatment options. Both my sister and sister in law had the surgery with varying results 20 years ago. - pain free to almost pain free. How was your experience in Birmingham?
