Coming from a family of lifeguards, me, my brother, my aunt, and some cousins, I think pool safety is so very important. Often accidents involving pools could have been easily avoided and yet, every year people, especially young children, die.
I would hold firm to your points on pool safety and ensure all easily avoided accidents are prevented, whether it be a lock, gate, etc.
You have the right to protect your child, and his cousins.
