My wife (41) had the mirena inserted about 2+ months ago. Her doctor suggested it not for birth control but because she has fibroid tumors and her periods were unbearable and painful. Since the insertion she has basically been bleeding non stop. Which the doctor said would be normal for the first 3 to 6 months, until her body adjusts. Her periods are not painful anymore so in that respect the device is a success. Although she still bleeds slightly all the time even when not on her period. Which she can live with (she tells me).

The issue is our sex life is pretty much dead. We've tried to have sex, and its obvious to me she isn't enjoying it... She doesn't even get wet. Our sex life was "normal" before, sometimes 2 to 3 times a week, other times 2 to 3 times a month. But we usually both enjoyed sex.

This is our longest stretch of no sex or intimacy of any kind in our entire marriage (over 20 years). . As the husband I'm trying to be supportive and understanding because like I said the device was not installed as birth control, but as a solution to her severe cramps and bleeding during her monthly periods, and I'm extremely happy that her unbearable pains of her periods have stopped, but I miss my sex partner. I'm still attracted to my wife and want to have sex, even if it's only twice a month.

Removal is not an option at this point, since she is so happy that the pain she has been experiencing for so long is now gone in thanks to mirena, but the lack of libido and complete and utter lack of any sexual desire whatsoever is absolutely killing me.

I've read though most of these comments, but have to ask those out there... Is there anything we can do to give her some kind of sex drive back?
