It is very good information to know that the guidelines change periodically. I've had high cholesterol since my early 30s. It runs around 230 consistently. Since I'm 50, my doctor wanted me on medicine. We made a deal that I'd do the CT Heart Scan and if is showed anything of concern in my arteries that I'd take the medicine. The CT Heart Scan showed no buildup whatsoever and rated me as an extremely low risk for heart disease despite my high cholesterol. Unless something changes, I'm saying "no" to taking the drugs (and my doctor agreed). I should mention that my grandmother had high cholesterol, weighed 98 pounds her entire adult life and lived to be 100 1/2 years old despite high cholesterol!
