Congratulations--this is an exciting time for you! :-)

You can increase your chances of becoming pregnant by:
1. Understanding when you ovulate (basal temperature, ovulation predictor kit, tracking cervical mucus)
2. Having sex often (I've read every-other day) during your most fertile time
3. According to John R. Sussman, M.D., assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Conceive magazine, "Although experts used to think you could get pregnant if you had intercourse before, during, or right after ovulation, they now know that you’re actually most likely to get pregnant if you have sex in the five days before you ovulate, or on the day itself—but not after." (This is because sperm can live up to 72 hours, whereas the egg can live 12-24 hours...so the sperm is "waiting" for the egg).

Most women do not have symptoms of pregnancy until they are further along in the pregnancy, and it is difficult to distinguish sore breasts from pregnancy versus sore breasts from PMS. I am not sure what the "very heavy" feeling would be in your breasts, as that symptom does not occur until closer to the third trimester. I remember having symptoms when I was trying to get pregnant, too, and mine ended up being from PMS---I had never had those symptoms before, so I thought for sure I was pregnant, but I was taking birth control pills before, too, which decreased my PMS symptoms until I stopped taking them. It's hard to say what your symptoms are from, as every women is different! Other women do have symptoms very early in their pregnancy...some women even claim that they knew they were pregnant because they could feel the fertilized egg implant (there could be some implantation bleeding).

Home pregnancy tests won't detect the pregnancy hormone until you've missed a period, which is still another week away. An ultrasound at the doctor's office would also not pickup the heartbeat (right now, the embryo would be more a collection of cells, and the heart does not start beating until around 5th week, I believe).

Are you expecting your next period to be May 20th? Are you planning to take a home pregnancy test on/after that day? Let us know what the results are; it's just one more week to wait! Best wishes, and if this month did not work out for pregnancy, try, try again! :-)
