Thanks for the great information. They diagnosed me by my symptoms and x-rays. Since my original post my symptoms have gotten worse – the pain is getting harder to manage. I've called the dentist and looks like my best option is a root canal. I was hoping to avoid it but I can't stand the pain anymore. The pain from the root canal can't be any worse than the one I'm experiencing now and the good thing is my insurance company will cover some of the cost.
My root canal is scheduled for tomorrow, you know you're in pain when you are looking forward to a root canal!
