I am not even sure i am a proponent of single payer,
but forcing people with point of a gun 'mandates' to buy into the Medical Insurance Mafia scam without it, is a travesty & will not be borne.
Baucus is a bought off sleazebag [2 mil last year alone] who just got an earful from angry Montanans last week about what he has been up to.
He is also one of the prominent authors of the Medicare drug benefit, which was pure corporate welfare for drug companies, again at the expense of this nation, its economy & taxpayers.
Either fix healthcare with single payer or leave the medical mess [aka system] alone.
I do agree with you that people need to become acquainted with prevention, rationing & some common sense on the subject.
It is the complete mental disconnect between use of services & the expenses involved that have allowed unrestrained escalating costs.
People think insurance is some magic cover-all, until they actually get ill & denied coverage. Only Congress gets gold-plated coverage.
The first & most important health care is personal self-care. Starting by educating one's self & then acting upon that with feedback based on one's experience.
