After a hip replacement recovery can take up to several months. It is normally recommended that light activity be resumed several weeks later even though physical therapy normally starts right away. Remember you just had a major part of your body replaced and now you need to learn how to properly use it.
My best recommendation for you is to have a talk with your doctor, who ultimately knows best. They can determine how well you are recovering and the amount of weight you can bear on your brand new hip.
