Yes, it is very common to hear voices and be delusional when you have schizophrenia. There is nothing to be afraid of and the only thing that you can do is be aware of the situation. If he is taking his medications, they are usually harmless. When they do not take their medications, is when things are scary.

I spent several years very close to someone who had schizophrenia and the only thing that scared me was the midnight phones calls that were delusional. She was always talking about random people that didn’t exist but it was nothing to fear.
