Hi, Chicago, and thank you for writing back!

If you haven't had sex since your period on May 25, and if your husband's hand was completely dry, then no, I would say you're not pregnant. I would say that you're just going late due to stress and changes in your lifestyle.

To be pregnant, some of your husband's pre-ejaculate or ejaculate must travel into your vagina, through your uterus and up into the fallopian tubes, where it travels to meet an egg around the time that you are ovulating. The sperm lives in the pre-ejaculate or ejaculate fluid. So if your husband's hand was dry, there would be no way for sperm to live there.

Getting married is a huge change in your life! It is common to feel a lot of stress around the time of the wedding and afterward as you get used to your new life. I think that you are just going late. I know that in my life sometimes when I was going through a lot of stress I would even miss a period totally. It didn't happen very often -- maybe twice or three times -- but it did happen. And I was irregular a lot.

If I were you, I would probably wait until July 25, when it is clear that you missed a whole period (if you go this late) and if you do go this late, call your doctor's office and see if they'd like you to make an appointment. You want to be sure there's nothing else going on (perhaps with your hormones) that is causing you to be so irregular. Your doctor may ask you about birth control, because the pill helps us regulate our cycles when they get really out of hand. Are you interested in learning about birth control? I know you said that you don't want to be pregnant now, so with a new husband and aims to fulfill, some kind of birth control would be really smart.

Does any of that help?
