Hi
I joined so I could potentially help some people on this site.
7 months ago I sprained my left ankle very bad, it heeled and all ok.
3 weeks ago I started to experience servere pain in same ankle but opposite side "outer side anterior. The pain is so bad that when it happens I can't put any pressure on the foot at all. This has happened 3 times in 3 weeks now to the point where I have been on crutches for 5 days.
I have had CT, XRay,MRI which all show nothing and I have also seen one of sydneys top orthopaedic surgeons.
I have been in absolute tears with the pain and not being able to put any weight on my foot.. in saying this I can put pressure on the ball of my foot so walking on tipy toes.
I'm 39 very active 2 children.

Drumroll ........
I finally have a diagnosis from a very good sports PT ... so I have a slight ankle impingement with a VERY tight cuboid...
first treatment was yesterday massaging my leg, side of leg which runs down to foot very hard then pushing the cuboid bone that's runs along the side of the foot extremely hard then tapping my foot ... guess what? I'm walking no crutches !!!!
Apparently I need to learn how to walk properly again because after my sprain I put all weight on the opposite leg so essentially I lost all calf muscle on my injured side which I now need to build with light exercises. Walking around the house no crutches and if I go out side just one crutch slowly but walking properly distributing weight evenly.
I hope I have helped someone experiencing the same thing because my surgeon was offering either a quarter zone shot into my ankle or surgery with a camera to look around..... so happy I went to a sports PT and learning to walk again !!!!
