I also wanted to add that the FDA has recently approved another form of emergency contraception, or EC, ("morning after pill") that is called Plan B One-Step that may be obtained without prescription by girls and boys who are 17 years of age and older. The original Plan B can be obtained without prescription by girls and boys 18 years and older. And, it is best to use EC as soon as possible (the misnomer "morning after pill" has been changed, as it is best to use EC that same evening), and recent studies have shown that it is effective even up to 120 hours after unprotected sex (it used to be 72 hours).
