I also received the flu shot in September 2009, the pain is getting worse instead of better. I have the same symptoms as the previous post. Can't lift my arm high enough to dress without pain, comb my hair etc. Sleeping is also a problem. I take advil pm at night sometimes to help with the discomfort. When the shot was given it didn't hurt, but several hours later it had stiffen up and began to hurt to lift it. I just googled pain in the arm and found this thread, it made me feel better that I am not alone, thought it was just a fluke, but knew I hadn't hurt it doing any other activity. I hate to go to the Dr. for this, I am going to try the ice and put on bio-freeze and see if that helps. Another gentleman that received his shot the same time as I did but by a different nurse also has the same symptoms, he was going to contact his Dr., if I find out the results of that I will update.
