Hi Maddie,

Thank you for your question. I happen to have two people in my family that suffer from intolerance to some foods to include wheats, grains and so forth which is an allergic reaction. Have you ever been tested for allergies? Does food intolerance run in your family?

Intolerance to wheat products will cause the symptoms you describe such as: irritable bowels, aching joints, depression, eczema and low iron to name a few. If you have low iron, this will certainly cause tiredness.

This is not uncommon to find people who are allergic to certain foods and the intolerance can be annoying at best. My Niece has a number of food intolerances and therefore, most of her food intake has to be monitored.

Here is a great website that offers some information on how to deal with food intolerances and what to look for: http://www.foodintoleranceawareness.org/wheat.htm

The only real solution to your issue is to eliminate these things that cause distress from your diet completely. Since you had a kidney transplant, you should certainly speak to your physician about these issues and if your physician is not willing to talk about these things as you mentioned, seek a professional opinion from a nutritionist.

More information from the Mayo Clinic indicates that there is a difference between allergies and intolerance when it comes to certain foods and you can read more information here http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/food-allergy/AN01109.

I hope this information is helpful. I know how difficult it can be to live with food allergies. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions. Seeking a physicians help will certainly help you learn more about what you are experiencing. Please seek another physician in your area that deals directly with food allergies (intolerances), which may help also.
