Pat-- LOL your post reminded me of Nursing school. It is a completely different world, not just language. Everything is abbreviated or shortened in some way. Try reading physician's notes on a patient's chart and it looks like it came from another planet. There is so much "jargon" in the health care field that sometimes even the nurses have a hard time figuring out what a new term means. It's a never ending learning opportunity. But if you learned something new at that class then good for you!
