Anon,

Hi, and welcome to EmpowHER! Thanks so much for writing to us. May I ask you a few questions?

When you lose your voice, do you actually lose it completely or are you just very hoarse or weak-sounding? Are you able to rest your voice when you do lose it?

Have you been back to see your doctor? I am interested, what does she or he say now that this is such a common occurrence?

Do you have any allergies, Anon? DId the ENT doctor test you for allergies or talk about whether they could be affecting you?

Do you have any problems with coughing? Do you smoke?

Do you have asthma?

Do you work in an area where you are exposed to anything like fumes or dust or temperature changes on a regular basis?

Do you take any medicines (either prescription or over-the-counter), and if so, what are they?

Do you travel a lot?

In your larynx, something is causing chronic inflammation. The above questions might help us help you figure out what could be causing it.

Is it possible that you have acid reflux?

Here's another page that talks about treatment (based on what's causing it, so it's important to figure that first part out):

Looking forward to getting some more information from you, Anon, to see if we can help you narrow down what could be happening.
