You can call your Gynecologist at any time, to see what his/her protocol is for seeing women who have missed a period. Typically, your doctor will not need to see you until you have missed either two or more periods and/or if you have any unusual or different symptoms (such as pain).

The medical term for "loss of period" is called "amenorrhea", and does not actually apply until women have missed three or more periods in-a-row...missing a period (or even two!) really is that common, and can be related to a underlying health condition, but more often, is related to a recent illness, new medication or stress.
