Can we at least agree, that genital cutting is not a parental right, and this decision should be left to the person who is in possession of the penis? The best people to argue against circumcision are the men who have been through the procedure and who are now having to deal with the consequences of ignorant medical professionals. I was under a false impression about circumcision for a lot of my life but as an adult, I learned to recognize BS when I hear it and science when I read it. it's our job as human beings to change our minds when we are wrong. No matter how this practice became prevalent in the USA, it has to stop. A large percentage of medical texts floating around don't even have diagrams or information regarding the foreskin. Part of a boys penis is not expendable. There is a lot of misinformation floating around, and a growing number of doctors, nurses, and parents who are educating themselves about circumcision and realizing it has no value whatsoever. It is not a useless piece of skin, circumcision is not a harmless medical procedure with minimal pain, circumcision is not necessary for cleanliness......the foreskin doesn't even become loose enough to move until puberty ate age 10 or older and when you forcibly retract it to cut it away or clean under it, it is similar to ripping off a fingernail. You have nothing to lose by reading up about this, give your child a gift before you choose to get part of his genitalia removed and listen to the arguments against. Religion and tradition and deliberate ignorance are not good reasons to mutilate your kid.
