You are right..too much consumption of any macro-nutrient or micro-nutrient is not healthy, and can impede on nutrient absorption; just as many nutrients depend on others nutrients for their absorption in the body. Moderation and a healthy eating plan are the keys to eating high-fiber, nutrient-rich foods and losing weight.

Ideally, it is best to speak with your doctor and a Registered Dietitian (RD) regarding your body's specific needs, including calories, nutrients, physical activity. We can provide some basic guidelines, but they are provided for the general population, as we do not know if you need to lose weight for health reasons, or if you just desire to lose a few pounds. We do not know if you have any medical or other health conditions, your age, physical abilities, etc.

Here are a few credible sources for nutrition information:
- American Dietetic Association (ADA)
- Harvard's Nutrition Source
- My Pyramid
- EmpowHER's Diet Center (includes information on "high fiber diets"
