Yes, I do have a primary care doctor. Are you responding to me as a nurse, or someone who has experienced these same problems? My stomach problems began in November 2008 when I went to a hospital emergency room with severe abdominal pain and nausea where they did x-rays to rule out appendicitis and/or gallbladder problems sending me home with a diagnosis of some type of viral problem. The nauseau and pain did not go away, I was sick after eating several different foods, and I went to my primary care physician who ordered a thorough abdominal ultra sound and a gallbladder test that took 1 1/2 hours to see how the gallbladder was actually working. I absolutely cannot put butter, beef or mayonaise type foods in my mouth!! I am so sick for days after eating these foods. These tests all came back normal. She sent me to a gastroenterologist in December who performed an endoscopy and colonoscopy after my initial consultation. I had lost 15 pounds in about a one month period. The only thing these tests revealed was slight inflammation at the gastroesophageal junction. They prescribed omeprazole. I continued to feel nauseaus, have dry heaves, some vomiting, lost another 35 pounds in six months, had no apetite and actually had to force myself to eat - all accompanied with stomach pain that was far worse in the morning after waking. I began taking an appetite stimulant and that did seem to work after a couple of weeks. I have stopped losing weight but I do make myself eat with very little appetite or hunger sensation. I have frequent urinary tract infections and am put on Cipro as treatment and while on this antibiotic I feel better with less stomach discomfort. I was diagnosed with probable MS in 2001 by a neurologist and a mixed connective tissue disease by a rheumatologist in 1992 - I receive ongoing treatment by both of these specialists but am seen by my primary care physician every six weeks for monitoring my overall health. I am however at the point of wondering what to do to resolve this stomach problem - I am getting discouraged with the situation. I am a strong individual and have never experienced any depression and/or anxiety problems, but I still need to fina a resolution to this problem (if one exists - and I have to believe one does exist) . I do want to find a treatment program and put this behind me.
