Thank you for your question, Anonymous.

Migraines are horrible and I am sorry you are dealing with this pain for so long. I have had a few friends that have dealt with painful migraines for years and they both took two approaches to dealing with the pain and I will share their stories.

First of all, migraines are caused by combination of blood vessel enlargement and the release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around these blood vessels. During the headache, an artery enlarges that is located on the outside of the skull just under the skin of the temple (temporal artery). This causes a release of chemicals that cause inflammation, pain, and further enlargement of the artery.

There is usually a trigger that causes migraines such as a loud noise, bright lights, allergies, etc. Usually people who experience migraines know the triggers and try to stay away from them.

Since you have already seen a neurologist and obviously they checked your brain for any issues, there could be a problem with the curvature of your spine. Make an appointment with a spine specialist since this may be the cause. This is what caused my friends migraines. As her story unfolds, she ended up going to a Chiropractor to realign her spine since she had a neck curvature that caused her discomfort. I am glad to say that after several months, her migraines have dissipated.

Although everyone is different, this may be an avenue you may want to look into. As for my other friend, he cannot be exposed to bright lights and have changed the lights in his house to softer tones. Every light bulb have different frequencies. For example, change any light bulbs over 45 watts to say 25 watts and this has helped him although sunlight still causes him discomfort.

Do you know what triggers your migraines?

Here is a link to some more information on migraines https://www.empowher.com/media/reference/migraine.

Knowing your trigger points may help you deal with your migraines although there may be another underlying reason behind your pain also such as the spine issue my friend had. If you could answer what triggers your migraines we may be able to help you some more to pin point what can be done to help live with your migraine attacks.

I hope this information has been helpful.
