Anon - Here's what the Lupus Foundation says about the ANA test:
The ANA test is positive in almost all individuals with systemic lupus, and is the most sensitive diagnostic test currently available for confirming the diagnosis of systemic lupus when accompanied by typical clinical findings. A negative ANA test is strong evidence against lupus as the cause of a person's illness.

You can find additional information from the following resources:

http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/conditions/lupus.html

If you continue to believe you may have lupus after reviewing this information then you may want to have a second set of tests, but in general the negative ANA test would indicate that you do not have lupus.

Will you let us know your next steps?

Take care, Pat
