These anti-vaccine comments are a bit misleading. 28 million doses of Gardasil have been distributed in the United States, with 28 confirmed vaccine-related deaths as of March 10, 2010. 15,829 reactions out of 28 million doses.

According to the Centers for Disease Control:

"As of January 31, 2010, there were 15,829 VAERS reports of adverse events following Gardasil vaccination in the United States. Of these reports, 92% were reports of events considered to be non-serious, and 8% were reports of events considered serious." (Source: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaccines/hpv/gardasil.html)

Any time you put a medication, whether herbal or lab-created, into your body you run the risk of a reaction. Compared to the risk of HPV complications and the risk of cervical cancer, the risk of a reaction to the vaccine are small. Of course, statistics are meaningless if you are the person who has a reaction. But the odds of a serious reaction are extremely small.

Rather than reading scare tactics on the internet, discuss the vaccine and the risk/benefit profile with your health care provider. That way you can make a decision based on factual information and your personal medical history.
