Thanks, Anon. All information is good!! When we research questions here at EmpowHer, it really helps in being able to search for conditions, rule out symptoms, and so on.

The only coincidences I see are that you have been urinating too often for a week and you're bloated and retaining water in the last week and your period is a week overdue. I'm wondering if there's some connection there, especially since your hormones have been a little irregular since you went off the pill. (And your doctor is right; women often have irregular periods when getting off the pill and letting their body's hormones take back over. Were you regular before you started the pill?)

You didn't mention any pain, so I am assuming you haven't had any, is that right? (Either pain when you urinate or pain like cramps?)

There are a lot of things that can cause frequency of urination and bloating in addition to urinary problems. In addition to diabetes or hormonal issues, it can be due to severe anxiety/tension, an ovarian cyst, even an electrolyte imbalance, for instance.

Is there a reason you are concerned about your kidneys? Do you have a family history of kidney problems? Renal failure actually tends to result in a DECREASE of urination, and the urine changes color -- it will be darker. And the first symptom you would notice with kidney stones would be pain or maybe nausea.

It's been a couple days since you wrote back. I'm wondering if your symptoms have changed at all, gotten better or worse? And have you gotten your period yet? If not, I might call the doctor's office and tell them that you're urinating too frequently and that you're bloated, and ask if they want to see you. I am thinking it is connected to hormonal issues, but since you're dealing with this every day -- and that's no fun -- it would be good to get it checked out.
