I'm horrified by the number of people going to tanning beds for this condition. Tanning beds can give you skin cancer: pityriasis rosea, while annoying, is harmless. Mine went away after about seven weeks (fortunately I had virtually no itching). If you are worried about it or it's not healing, see a doctor, don't self-medicate by going to a tanning salon. If you think your doctor is being too dismissive, see a different one. If two or three doctors tell you it's not pityriasis rosea, they're probably right, and you might have been chasing the wrong treatments.
