Hello Anonymous,

I am glad you reached out to our community. I can truly appreciate your reservation to consult your gynecologist/obstetrician, but you really should. I appreciate how heavily your mother's recent diagnosis of breast cancer must be weighing on your mind.

It's not unusual at all for mothers to leak or be able to express drops of milky or clear fluid for months or even years after they stop nursing.

According to a lactation consultant at pregnancy.org, "This only becomes a concern if the breasts produce a large amount of milk for long periods of time. If the breasts stay engorged or lots of milk leaks out months after weaning, then there may be a problem and the mom should be checked out by a doctor."

Your body may still be adjusting. But, it would be wise to be have the cyst looked at. I am not suggesting it indicates cancer, but related to why you are leaking.

Regards,
Maryann
