Anonymous, some people use the acronym LGB for laproscopic gastric banding, which is a surgery. We have a video on this: https://www.empowher.com/bariatric-surgery/content/adjustable-gastric-band-bariatric-surgery-what-it-and-what-are-its-advantages-dr-johnell.

It may also refer to laprascopic gastric bypass, also a surgery: https://www.empowher.com/bariatric-surgery/content/laparoscopic-gastric-bypass-what-does-entail-dr-liu-video.

The idea with these surgeries is that your stomach is made smaller so it holds less food, you eat less, and lose weight. They have also been shown to be effective in helping to reverse diabetes.

Gastric surgery is not without risk. It is important to do your own research, but also to discuss your options thoroughly with your health care provider. Thank you for writing.
