I had uterine cryoblation done outpatient in ob-gyn's office due to fibroids and heavy menstrual cycles. I took a mild tranquilizer before and had local anesthetic of the cervix at the time of the procedure. Was supposed to be little pain, maybe like menstrual cramps. I have a very high pain tolerance...have had a c-section, abscessed tooth, etc. This procedure was absolutely the MOST painful experience I've ever experienced. At first my doctor was wondering if I was 'imagining' dome of it, but then noted that I was jumping, grabbing the sheet, braking out in a cold sweat, moaning, exactly when he was applying the frozen ice 'ball' to various tissues. He offered to stop, but I just wanted it done and over with. I couldn't recommemd this procedure without anathesia. I was shocked since I totally wasn't expecting such pain. I continued to have reg periods.....like clockwork (!), but they were lighter. I had no problems after the procedure except very mild cramping and that nasty smelling sloughing off of the destroyed frozen tissue...like a period but more brown and smelly.
