The fact that so many people are overweight and obese now "normalizes" it, to a degree. You can look around the mall, the grocery store, a movie theater, or any other public place and see just how many people are overweight or obese. It doesn't stand out the way it did 20 and 30 years ago, which can make it easier for someone to ignore their own growing size.
