It may have been too early to take a home pregnancy test, since it was a few days before the "2 week mark" since you had sex.

For most women, it is unlikely that you would become pregnant after just one "try" (intercourse on one day). For all of the reasons/concern/worry you have...these are the reasons most doctors suggest women wait before they try-to-conceive until after they have one regular menstrual period after stopping the use of hormonal contraception...there are just too many questions.

One definite answer I can give you is this: most women ovulate two weeks before their menstrual period begins. If you are pretty certain you ovulated around 24th of March, you can most likely expect your menstrual period to begin something in the next 7 days. If it does not begin in the next 7 days, you can take another home pregnancy test at that time.

I know waiting 7 days is agony, but since you are not sure about when your menstrual period was going to occur since you just stopped using hormonal contraception, and the ovulation predictor kits are not 100% accurate...allowing another week to see what your body does is the only thing you can do right now....you will know by then if you have a menstrual period or more pregnancy-type symptoms. Please know that any "pregnancy symptoms" are also so general that they can relate to almost any other condition, too (upset stomach, GI issues, upcoming period, flu/cold or other illness).

Let us know when your period begins, or if you take a test next week!
