I believe what Faru was mentioning was "Sphincter" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphincter).
There is indeed some Islamic view regarding drinking in the sitting position. However, I can't find any scientific explanation (yet) of which sphincter(s) is/are affected in the sitting or standing position.
This could be an interesting scientific research though, as Missie had pointed out :)
