Just got off the phone with a representative of SC Johnson, the manufacturers of OFF! Insect Repellent, and their products are safe to put on your scalp as long as you don't spray it directly to your scalp. Apply a thin layer to your hand and rub it on your scalp evenly. This will prevent mosquitoes and other insects from biting your scalp. Other insect repellents with similar ingredients to OFF should be fine as well.
