Hi,
As a 48 year old woman it is very likely that you can be in perimenopause, which is that transition time before you stop producing estrogen completely. I am very concerned about the prolonged, heavy vaginal bleeding, the 50 lb weight gain in a period of 9 months, the swelling in your left leg and the numbness in both your left arm and left leg. These are not typical signs of perimenopause. I understand your financial concerns of seeking medical attention when you do not have insurance and limited funds to pay for care out of pocket. But, you need to seek medical attention right away. Is there a health clinic at a hospital in the area where you live? Often hospital health clinics or community health clinics offer care at very little cost or cost based on the ability to pay. A social worker at your local hospital can help you find resources for assistance in paying medical expenses. Another option is to go to the emergency room of your local hospital. I don't think this is a matter which you can ignore. Please seek medical attention.
